"Dreaming in the Classroom: Whiteness and
Institutional Accountability"
Dr. John T. Warren, Associate Professor
Speech Communication
Student Center 2nd floor, Mississippi Room
7:00 p.m.

Using, in part, Dr. King's writings, Dr. Warren holds himself accountable in this presentation -- binding together three threads of thought: Dr. King's dream, recent scholarship on 'whiteness' as a system of power, and the work he does within his own classroom. The central goal of this presentation is to ask about what obstacles, extraordinary and mundane, interrupt the everyday opportunities to actualize the dream that all will live in a land that has been "transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice."
